Cadiz was the most important centre for the production of spirits in southern Europe in the 17th century. There, Juan de Wint (Knight of the Order of Calatrava) and Margarita de Lila, both of Flemish origin, devoted themselves to maritime trade. Their marriage in 1645 led to the establishment of one of the largest maritime transport companies in the province of Cadiz.

The Wint & Lila company was responsible for transporting alcohol for medicinal use from the traditional distilleries of the Guadalquivir Valley to northern Europe. This alcohol gave rise to Dutch Genever, which the English would later replicate in the famous London Dry Gin, due to its distillation method.

Today, the brand revives the origins of artisanal distillation and the slow maceration of botanicals, highlighting the unique Andalusian flavours of orange blossom and mint.
